I am a Canadian-British artist, originally from Toronto and Calgary, now based in the UK. My artistic journey began in childhood, surrounded by a creative family—my mother and great-uncle were both artists, and our home was filled with art. Encouraged to explore my creativity, I started ceramics classes at the age of 10 and continued developing my skills with inspiring teachers. I initially gravitated towards sculpture, but a bicycle accident led me to oil painting. My first painting was a Cubist self-portrait, and the principles of Cubism continue to influence my work today.
I studied Fine Art at London Guildhall University, earning a BA in Fine Art (2003). My work is influenced by Picasso, Emily Carr, Canadian art, and Japanese aesthetics, particularly the bold lines and structured compositions of woodblock prints.
I primarily work in oils on canvas and watercolour. My watercolour technique is highly detailed, using black outlines to isolate colours, making them pop. I use shapes and lines to construct imagery, a technique rooted in my fascination with Cubism. My oil paintings vary depending on the subject but are always rich in colour and texture.
I have exhibited extensively, and my work is held in private collections worldwide. I also create portable art galleries for young children, my children’s picture books. I have authored and illustrated three children’s books; published in 2023 and 2024, with more in progress. My art is about storytelling, connection, and the power of visual expression.
